As you know I didn't post yesterday, so sorry to my faithful readers. I couldn't get my internet to stay connected long enough to do much of anything last night. Today it's still not working but I am realizing that it is more likely my computer than the internet connection. Anyway, I am back for now. It's amazing how disconnected a person can feel with no internet.
Yesterday was an incredibly nice day here. The morning started off quite hazy but then cleared off and you could see blue skies everywhere. We took advantage and headed outside for the kids to play in the sandbox. They stayed there for a bit but the sun was too hot so we moved to a shady spot with lots of trees near a fountain. The boys played in the 'woods' for about an hour, running back and forth to the fountain for water and digging traps in the mud to catch things. I sat on a bench and played a word game on my iPod while listening to the fountain. It was very warm and peacful and I really enjoyed myself. When Ryan started misbehaving because he was hungry we decided to go in for lunch. Ayi had arrived early yesterday and was gone when we came in so we messed up what she had cleaned, watched some television, then went back outside for more playing. Eventually we came in and the boys had a bath since they were filthy from playing in the mud. After some supper Tim and Nick walked to the store for bananas then we made milkshakes and Nick went to bed. From there on it was a quiet night and with no internet I didn't know what to do with myself. I fought with it for a while then gave up and just watched television with Tim.
Today was almost the exact opposite of yesterday. There has been no sun but an occasional shower so we made it a jammy day. I had my Chinese lesson at 10:30 and it was very productive. I really like my teacher, Rachel. She is very patient with me as I try to learn the difficult sounds I need to know to pronounce the words properly. I had a headache when I started and it only got worse after contorting my mouth for two hours. For this reason I postponed a visit with Celine and Caroline, which I hate to do because they are a lot of fun. We will try again on Thursday.
It is now eight o'clock and both Nicholas and Ryan are still awake. Ry fell asleep on the couch a little while before supper so now he isn't tired. I am. At the same time I am feeling a bit stir crazy from not going anywhere today. Tomorrow morning I have my massage and I think after that the boys and I will venture out. It may only be a toy store to look around but we will go somewhere. Nicholas has been feeling a bit homesick the last few days so I think he needs something to cheer him up. We will find it!
That's about it for tonight. Maybe some more excitement tomorrow! Goodnight.
Glad to have you back Jan. Wish you could send some of that warm sun over here. We had a great weekend but it wasn't really warm. The sun was shining though so we'll take whatever we can get. It is down right cold here today! No sun! Nice for you to have some days just to relax. Now you will be energized to go again tomorrow. I will be interested to hear some Chinese words spoken when you come home. I can't imagine speaking it as it just sounds like noise to me. We went up to Dev's mini home last night. Eric and Carol have moved out so Liz and I are going to do some painting and there are some repairs for Dev and Ellery to do but I think it will be a nice place for them. I am so pleased to have them close to home! Bye for now. Oh yes I wanted to mention how huge those snails looked in the photo!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jan, missed you yesterday, hope you can get your computer straightened out, I know I was lost without my internet and skype last week. Glad to hear the Chinese lessons are going well, you will be able to do show and speak when you get home. Sounds like the boys had a good time out side. They would be delighted to have some woods to play in, almost like home! It has been overcast and cold all day to day, rain tonight and Wednesday. I think the sun is supposed to shine Thursday and Friday, rain on Saturday and back to sun on Sunday. I am afraid the summer is going to be over before we get any nice temperatures. Hayden has ball hockey tonight and Kenzie has baseball if the rain holds off. Have a great day, take care.
