Easter Fun In China

Yes, even though Easter is not an official holiday in China the bunny does visit those who choose to celebrate it.  The boys are in bed eagerly awaiting a basket full of chocolate and a new toy.  Actually, they are in our bed.  Ryan is too afraid to sleep in his own room and Nicholas is just having trouble sleeping.  It doesn't help that they're loaded up with sugar from the fabulous Easter party we attended this afternoon.  Jessica and Chris hosted a lovely get together with some American, French and Canadian friends.  There were a lot of kids there and they enjoyed a fantastic egg hunt outside.  Much to my delight, Nicholas made a new friend named Hannah who goes to the same school he will be starting in August.  She loves it and although she will be a grade ahead of him, it will be nice for him to be able to see a familiar face once in a while.

Here are a few pics from the Easter Egg Hunt:

All the little ones waiting patiently for everybody to get to the lobby.

Ryan couldn't wait to check out what was in the plastic eggs.

Nicholas wasn't stealing Caroline's eggs, he was sharing his.  She didn't get too many.

Like I said before, it was a lovely party and we got to know lots of other expats we hadn't had a chance to meet yet.

On another positive note, I now have a bike!  This morning we ventured to Metro so Tim and the boys could help me pick one out.  After we drove a few around the store, Tim tried one that he really liked.  I hopped on and gave it a whirl and it was very comfortable.  It's plain, no gears or anything, but that means there's less to go wrong with it.  The only thing I don't love about it is that's it's orange, but I will get over it.  I didn't actually have time to ride it before we went to the party so there are no pictures yet.  Tomorrow will be a good day for that.  It should be warm and hopefully sunny.

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope it's a beautiful weekend, wherever you are!

  1. What a wonderful way to celebrate Easter. The kids looked like they were having a great time. Love the cupcakes, they were really cute. It will be great for Nick to have someone he knows at school, although he won't have any problem making friends. Will be looking forward to pictures of that new orange bike.
Darren made it home on Friday, worn out and completely exhausted. It was a long two weeks in the field, next week should be easier, he hopes!!
Hayden and I just came home from the grocery store, I can't believe I have been there 3 times in the last two weeks, as you know I don't usually do the grocery shopping.
We are having our Easter dinner on Sunday night, Tracy, Stevie & the boys will be here, as will Shawn, Lisa and Bree and of course Darren. We wish Trish and the girls could be here as well.
Hope the Easter Bunny has found you and left lots of goodies.
Have a great day, take care.

  2. I guess you had a great time celebrating Easter in China! The cake and the cupcakes are so cute! I love Easter Egg hunts. Ellery hid the eggs and Dev, Stef, and Angie all humored me and hunted for eggs. I told them when I had grandchildren they would be off the hook but for now they are doing the hunting. Stefan and Angie have an ongoing competition and Stef found 55 eggs while Angie found 53. Dev found 76, he was the big winner. We had turkey and ham last night and made from scratch butterscotch and coconut cream pies. It was very good. Sam Dev's girlfriend wasn't here last night cause she went back to Halifax to have Easter supper with her friend. We had her and Dev and Angie and Stef for supper on Good Friday. I am so glad you got your new bike as I'm sure your wee ones are. Great photos as usual Jan and it looks like you had a wonderful sunny warm day. We were not so fortunate. I'm sure you have heard we had a bit of a snow storm but most of it has melted off now. It is sunny and mild here today. I put color and streaks in Aunt Donna's hair today, I hope it turns out well! Well must go and get some lunch ready. Bye for now! Happy biking!!!
