Today was one of those days where I just didn't feel like me. I'm not sure why but perhaps it was just plain tiredness. I stupidly stayed up late then Ryan was up at 2:30am. He had soaked through his pull-up and was drenched from neck to toe. I'm not sure how he managed to sleep as long as he did being that wet and I didn't think he drank that much before bed, but apparently he had. Anyway, he ended up being awake for a bit then slept with us until the grand hour of 5:50am. From then until seven he tossed and turned and bugged me until I finally got up with him. Eventually he and I went for a nap together but that was a battled that I will likely have some bruises from. Even once we did get to sleep it wasn't a good one. While we napped Tim and Nick walked to Carrefour and had some lunch then got a few groceries. When they got back we did a bit of cleaning and the kids played with their Thomas train set. They were very happy to have it again as this was the first time we set it up since our shipment arrived.
Luckily we were expecting company for supper so it got us motivated to move. I probably would have vegged out on the couch for most of the day otherwise. Around six o'clock Paul, who was here for supper once before, and Debbie and Al, a couple who moved here from New Glasgow, arrived and the kids were so excited they were bouncing off the walls. They really like Paul and took a shine to Al and Debbie right away. It was a bit loud in here for a bit while Tim and I (but mostly Tim) cooked supper and the kids entertained our guests. Paul was playing with Ryan and got himself into a bit of a jam and for a few minutes we thought we might have to find a saw to free him.
He finally managed to squeeze himself through the eight inch space without us having to slather him with butter or anything like that. Once he was free we had a lovely meal and great conversation with our new friends. Debbie has visited the infamous fabric market here in Shenyang and I have been wanting to go so I can have new curtains made for Ryan's room. I haven't braved the trip yet and had decided I would wait until we have our new driver but she said she would love to come along with me one day this week. That should make the torture a little more bearable! Debbie has a friend here who has all her clothes made by a seamstress at the fabric market and I guess the prices and quality are incredible. Perhaps I can get myself something new too! Actually, right now what I could really use is a masseuse who would come to the house to give me a massage. It seems kind of pointless to drive somewhere for a massage when I have to get back in the van afterward and undo all the relaxation. Maybe that will be a project for this week!
Well, that's about it for now. Monday is almost upon us and we have had another great weekend of getting out, seeing new things and meeting new people and it feels wonderful. Let's see what this week and the start of another month will bring! Zai jian.
It was great to see and talk to you and the boys. Paul certainly did get stuck, cute picture. It will be nice to have someone with you when you go to the Fabric shop who has already been there. I will be waiting to hear about your curtains and what they cost as compared to here. You just hang in there, only 12 more days with Mr. You. Hopefully you will be able to go for that massage and still be relaxed when you get home. Glad to hear that you had a good weekend, now you have to catch up on your rest. Have a good day. Take care
ReplyDeleteJan you must really like your Canadian TShirt cause you wear it a lot. It must be nice for you to converse with folks from home that understand your language!:) That is a really nice photo of the four of you. We had Stefan's birthday supper today. Liz, Devin, Grammie and Angie were here to help him celebrate. We had a nice supper and cheesecake for his birthday cake. It was a beautiful day here and hopefully for the rest of the week. Have a great Monday!
