Real Fur, Cherry Wine and Pretty Lights!

You will have to forgive me, I am a little behind here.  I am posting yesterday's blog now and will do today's blog tomorrow.  There just isn't enough time in the day.

We had a request for pictures of the cats that Mom is looking after while she is here so, Jamie, these are for you:

We decided that today would be a good day for the Science Museum so we headed out in the morning.  As we were looking for the right building we came across a sort of farmer's market that had lots of interesting handicrafts.

Which came first?

Real Fur Seat Covers

Hungry?

How about now?

Talk about fresh food!

Checking out the Cherry Wine

This guy tried to help us with prices (in English) but I was doing fine on my own (in Chinese).  He confused me.  We ended up with a bottle and a jug.

Bought two of these neat little instruments

I'm not sure about what this thing is.  Perhaps just a decorative piece.

After the market we tried again to get into the Science Museum but the doors were locked.  We got Tian Ye to help us and he found out that it was closed Monday and Tuesday.  Oh well, another time.

Along the way home we stopped at WuLiHe park in an area that we had never been to before.  We played around for a bit before heading home for lunch.

This lady and I talked for quite a while.  She was very nice and worried a lot about Ryan playing on the exercise equipment.  She sure loves her dogs.  The two of them travel on the bike with their owners.

Tonight we decided that after supper we would go to Nan Hu Park in search of a kite with lights on it.  Mom has been looking for one.  We didn't have any luck with that but saw some great sights and talked to some interesting people.

The Wave Bridge - very pretty!

Tian Ye talking to his friend who was fishing in the man made lake.

This guy wasn't playing for money, just for the fun of it.

We discovered a man selling these cool helicopter toys.  They are pretty simple but we had so much fun we bought a bunch.  As you can see from these photos, we attracted more attention than the toys did.  When we first stopped, there wasn't anyone checking out his toys.

Cool Boats!

These people were dancing in the park.  They stopped briefly to try and get the boys to dance with them.

As we were standing there watching them dance, Ryan, without a word, walked over and climbed up on this park bench and sat with this couple.  They were very good about not touching him but did try to chat. It was very strange but incredibly cute.

So that was our day.  It was a lot of fun and very really enjoyed going to the park at night.  We will have to do it again soon!

  2. Oh Jan what amazing night time photos. They are so beautiful. I really love reflection photos and with all the color. Looks like there is more activity in China at night than in the daytime. Really cute photo of Ryan chatting with the Chinese couple. The boys looked like they really enjoyed the helicopters. It is a very nice day here today. We had some frost last night so it was a little chilly this morning when Darlene and I went swimming. We were going to leave around 7:15 but I didn't get up there until a little later. Ellery and I didn't sleep well last night. He turned the plant on so everything is ready for the ice. It just doesn't seem possible that the snow and ice will be coming soon. We were so busy all summer and I feel like we need some more so we can get a few more things done but I don't control mother nature. Emma and I started bells yesterday again. She plays 7 bells now which is a lot but she loves the challenge and is excited about it. She is very good with music and she does well with piano also. Well must go and get the dishes done and get the last bit of the painting finished. Have more wonderful trips and lots of fabulous photos! Bye for now!

  3. Jan, love the photos, especially the night time ones. They are very colorful, and the lights make everything look sparkly!
That is quite a Farmers Market, lots of interesting things for sale.
The helicopter toys look very interesting and everyone seemed to enjoy flying them.
Love those little scooters, and I wonder...do they all come with a little dog?
Hayden had a hockey game in Dartmouth tonight, Tracy had bells so Carl and Stevie took Hayden to his game, Kenzie stayed with me. We went out after supper and cleaned out all the weeds on one side of the walk way between the buildings. It looks nice, but we still have to do the other side. Maybe tomorrow or Friday.
I have one more coat of red paint to put on the top of the hockey nets and my painting is finished. I think Sheryl finished up what she was working on today. I am glad we are finished, I need to get some things done here before I go away. I am going to try to get up to visit your Dad before I leave on Wednesday.
I guess I will go get my book and squeeze in a little bit of reading (if I can stay awake) haven't had much chance to read this last couple of weeks.
Looking forward to hearing about more adventures and lots of great photos. Have a great day, take care.
